.. as Ministry Celebrates 10 Retirees

The Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology,Prof. Salihu Adelabu has charged retirees to prioritize their health and wellbeing.

He admonished the retirees to always engage in activities that keep their body and brain fit.

The Commissioner made the charge at a send off ceremony organized by the ministry to celebrate and honor its retiring staff members.

The event, which took place at the Ministry’s Car Park, Secretariat, was attended by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology,Prof Salihu Adelabu, the newly appointed PS/IGs, Coordinating Director, and other top officials.

In his remarks, the Commissioner commended the retirees for their dedication, hard work, and contributions to the development of the education sector in Oyo State.

“We are grateful for your service and commitment to the ministry. Your experience and expertise will be greatly missed,” he said.

“Teachers are the best mankind in the world.
Why are you the best? Once you are a teacher, I don’t know whether it’s in the Bible, but I know the prophetic saying, says that the best among you are those who seek for knowledge, and they are always willing to teach others. So, once you are a teacher, you are the best mankind, and I’m still seeing you so, whether in retirement or in active service, and I want to encourage you, please sustain what you have been doing, what you know how to do best in your life.

” I want you to sustain it, even after retirement. People at times are misconstrued when our people say the reward of all teachers is in heaven.
That reward is still in heaven. Even though we are still going to have more reward on this earth. It’s going to be well with all of us.

So, one thing is that the ministry always wants to celebrate our retirees in a small way.

“You are retiring as teachers. And that’s just the best I can ever have. I don’t have any regrets about being a teacher.
If there is another opportunity to come to another world, I would also want to be a teacher. So, I want you to note all these things.
Many of the lawyers, judges, doctors, professors, you are saying today, they used to be from a poor home but from a disciplined family. And that’s just what we are losing in the larger society.

So, if you can still bring these things back, I want you to observe your body click. Observe your body click. You always wake up around 7:00am prepare for work by 8:00am already in the ministry of education.
What are you using to replace all these.

You can start making use of the internet and social media to make money. That’s exploring. At your comfort zone, you can learn so many things on YouTube.

Just go to YouTube, like one or two things that can be given to you one or two things. Once you are in this field, you are a teacher, you are an educator, you are an education administrator, you don’t grow old. Except if you would rather not do one thing or the other, make sure you engage yourself.

In his goodwill message, the PS/IG, Mrs. Karunwi Olufunke also praised the retirees, saying, “Your legacy will live on, and we will continue to build on the foundation you have laid.”

Also, in her remarks the coordinating Director, Mrs. Christiana Bolaji, admonished retirees to move closer to God and keep relationship with those that left in the service.

She later prayed that God will continue to be with them in all their endeaviour.

One of the retirees, who spoke on behalf of others, Mr. Salami, expressed their gratitude to the ministry for the opportunity to serve and for the recognition.

“We are proud to have served the ministry and the state. We will always cherish the memories and experiences we had here,” one of them said.

The ceremony was attended by family members, friends, and colleagues of the retirees, who came to celebrate their achievements and wish them well in their future endeavors.

The retirees were presented with gifts.
